Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Rochester middle school student was met by police investigators when she arrived for classes Monday morning. The unexpected meeting was the result of a social media post she had made.

The Willow Creek student had posted a photo of herself holding a handgun with a caption that read “don’t come to school tomorrow” on Snapchat.

The local FBI office was contacted and it notified the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office around 6:00 AM Monday. The account was traced to the girl, who cooperated with investigators and admitted it was “a dumb mistake.”

Turns out the gun was a toy and it was determined there was no threat to the school.

The Sheriff’s Office also says it received no calls from the public about the post. At this point, it’s unknown if the girl will face prosecution.
