Red Wing Murder Suspect Appears in Court

Red Wing, MN (KROC AM News) - A Red Wing man has been arraigned on murder and manslaughter charges and his bail was set at $1-million during a court hearing this week.

26-year-old Charles Jones is accused of shooting Dangelo Masterjohn at close range in the chest in the early morning hours of April 19. Police found the victim dead on a sidewalk in a residential neighborhood near downtown Red Wing.

Jones was taken into custody after leading police on a high speed chase in Wisconsin. He was held in the Pierce County jail in Wisconsin until his transfer to Red Wing. He has been ordered back to court July 7th for an omnibus hearing.

The motive for the fatal shooting has not been disclosed.
