With his team way behind, and in a winless season, a high school football player left the sideline to make a tackle Friday. The player, a senior captain for St. Cloud Cathedral, apologized on Twitter the next day, saying the play was, "the result of not thinking," reports the Star Tribune. A video of the play is also included in the story.

The player also apologized for breaking the integrity of the game. A player from Zimmerman was dashing for an apparent long touchdown when he was dragged down by the player who ran down the sideline then veered onto the field of play.

The running back was awarded the touchdown on the 88-yard play, according to the Duluth News Tribune. Zimmerman won the game 53-20.
