Falcon Heights, MN (KROC AM News) - The 2018 Minnesota State Fair opened with a big bang.

Opening Day attendance was 122,695, breaking the previous record by about 3,500 (119,145 - 2010).

There was a sharp drop Friday because of rainy weather as the headcount was put at 108,059. Sunday’s attendance may also be affected by weather as showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the afternoon.

The fair runs through Labor Day.
