Crozet, Va. (KROC-AM News) - A member of Minnesota’s congressional delegation was among the people transported to a hospital following a deadly Amtrak train crash near Washington DC.

A tweet issued by a staff member for Second District Congressman Jason Lewis says the freshman Republican lawmaker was checked out for a possible concussion. The staff member also tweeted that Lewis was doing fine and expressed gratitude to the emergency responders and doctors who responded to the incident.

The Amtrak train was carrying Republican lawmakers to a retreat in West Virginia when it collided with a garbage truck at around crossing, causing the train to partially the derail. Reports indicate the driver of the truck was killed, while several people on the train suffered minor injuries.
