Minneapolis, MN (KROC AM News) - Congressional District 1, which covers all of Southern Minnesota will hold their endorsing convention on Saturday, April 21st in Mankato at the Verizon Center.

Republican Party of Minnesota Chairwoman Jennifer Carnahan is optimistic about the parities prospects for the 2018 election cycle.

"Republican prospects in Minnesota are the brightest they've been in over a decade,” Carnahan said. “In 2016, President Trump was +15 points in CD1 and our endorsed Republican candidate fell short by only .04%. This seat is one of the top two pick-up opportunities in the entire country for national Republicans and we are confident we will elect a Republican to represent us in November."

The endorsing convention begins at 9:30 am in Mankato.

Congressman Tim Walz seat is up for grabs in District 1, as he is leaving to make a run for governor.
