A peak energy alert has been issued from MiEnergy Cooperative for parts of Southeast Minnesota and Northern Iowa.

According to a press release from MiEnergy Cooperative, a Peak Alert has been issued due to high demand for electricity on the regional grid.

The release says the Cooperative is calling for electricity conservation from 5-8 p.m. tonight, January 31st. The elevated peak demand lead to higher power costs, and to help keep the rates stable and affordable for all, members are asked to keep their energy use low. For those who are enrolled in load management programs, they will be affected from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
