Haunted houses are a thing, and have been for some time. You've got your trail of terrors, haunted mazes, and every Valleyfair turns over to ValleySCARE this time of year. But one nearby haunted house is raising funds for area veterans. The Fright Night Obsession Haunted House in Farmington is run by the local Support Our Troops organization and seeks to raise money to support area military family and troops.

The haunted house will be open this Friday and Saturday Oct 5 and 6, and Oct 12 and 13th. It's only $5 to get in, which is a charitable donation to the 501c3 organization. You can donate more, and encourage you to do so, as they will have donation forms available for tax purposes.

I think the best part about this haunted house is that it is FREE for military families that show their military ID.

According to their website, the mission of the Support Our Troops Haunted House is:

To support local soldiers who are currently deployed or have been deployed overseas and their families, and assisting them as needs arise.  This includes providing assistance to them on an individual basis as well as providing assistance through the FRG’s (Family Readiness Groups), presenting memorials and sending care packages to those who serve. Our group also strives to raise community awareness by honoring these soldiers and all who serve and to send a message to them and to the community that “They Have Not Been Forgotten”.

Why not get scared for a good cause this year? The haunted house is located in the 4-H Building on the Dakota County Fairgrounds in Farmington, and for more information, you can head to their facebook page.
