The Spring Grove Lions roared to a 66-28 win over the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals in the first broadcast of girls basketball this season on KFIL. The game was within four points after a long 3-pointer by Haley Hungerholt, but then Spring Grove went on a 16-0 run. The Lady Lions brought the pressure and played tight defense on both sides of the court, making it difficult for the visiting Cardinals when they did pass the half-court stripe.

Spring Grove got out to a 48-18 lead at halftime, then extended the lead and finished with a 66-28 win. NineLions players scored in the contest.

KFIL Subway Player of the Game for the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals was Haley Hungerholt. Hungerholt led the offense, scoring 16 of the team's 28 points. For Spring Grove, I couldn't decide, so I gave Co-Players of the Game. A pair of forwards down low got a number of rebounds and led the way on offense, Kelsey Hermanson leading the way with 18 and Lauryn Bohr right behind with 17 points scored. The Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball was given to Mariah Edgington. Mariah made just two shots from the field, but rebounded, passed, blocked a shot, played aggressive defense, and was a general nuisance to the visiting Cardinals in their attempts on offense.

The next girls basketball game on KFIL is Friday night: Chatfield vs. Dover-Eyota! We hope you can join us!
