Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A lawsuit against a former Rochester School District employee who was charged with having sex with one of her students has been settled - but the details will remain unknown to the public.

The lawsuit was filed last year on behalf of the student and sought damages from the district and Jody Nelson.

She was charged in 2014 but later acquitted by an Olmsted County jury. The criminal complaint against Nelson indicated the incident occurred in 2009 at a Rochester home during a party when the student was 16-years-old. Nelson was 34 and resigned from her job as a district paraprofessional in 2013 after the alleged incident was reported.

The lawsuit accused the district of allowing her to continue working even though it was aware of the relationship Nelson had with the student.

An Olmsted County judge signed an order Friday that dismissed the civil case “without costs to any party.” The judge also ordered the terms of the settlement to remain sealed
