The #9 Kingsland Knights had a slow start, but they were able to score 17 straight points in the first set to help them take down the #8 Houston Hurricanes 3-0 in the Section 1A East Subsection tournament.

Sophomore Ellie Buchholtz had 10 kills in the first set, to help the Kingsland Knights comeback from an 11-4 deficit in the fist set, that included 17 unanswered points and a 21-2 run to take the first set 25-13.

The big momentum shift in the first set helped propel the Knights and keep their offense in system. Their back row was great and did a phenomenal job of executing the first pass to get the ball to Ellie Buchholtz and Lauren Buchholtz, who led the Knights with 19 and 13 kills each.

Houston was led by Jennifer Albrecht who had seven kills, while Ariel Scanlan added four aces from the service line. The Hurricanes could never get the offense in rhythm but made some spectacular plays to help get some points and keep things tough on the Knights.

The Knights were able to keep the offense rolling in sets two and three, getting wins at 25-14 in both sets to complete the 3-0 sweep.

With the win, the Knights advance to the quarterfinals in Subsection play where they will take on #1 Mabel-Canton.
