St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The family of the Minnesota high school football player who was placed in a coma after collapsing during a game last month is reporting some very positive news.

According to postings on his CaringBridge site, Zach Zarembinski was moved out of the ICU unit at a Twin Cities hospital last week and he is now fully awake and walking. His family says Zach is able to eat a regular diet and is gaining strength and stamina. The latest post indicates he is growing a bit antsy to get out of the hospital, which apparently will have to wait until he undergoes additional testing of his cognitive abilities.

Zarembinski was a senior lineman for the Hill Murray High School football team and was playing in a sectional playoff game last month when he took himself off the field and then collapsed on the sidelines. After he was rushed to a hospital, he underwent emergency surgery for a brain bleed and was placed in a medically induced coma. His CaringBridge site indicates he began to emerge from the coma in early November.
