Monday afternoon, Cool 104 brought you more high school baseball action. The Grand Meadow/LeRoy-Ostrander/Kingsland Bulldogs defeated the Dover-Eyota Eagles 4-2.

GMLOK's Drew Copley struck out five of the first six batters faced, and had faced the minimum before Dover-Eyota's Joe Heaser got a base hit to lead off the third. After a sacrifice bunt, Jack Studer drove him in with a base hit up the middle. The score was 1-0 Eagles heading to the bottom of the third.

In the home half of the third, Cody Merkel and Drew Copley came through with hits to lead it off and tie it up, then Zach Bubany drove Copley in to give GMLOK the 2-1 lead.

In the top of the 5th, Dover-Eyota showed some two-out hitting. Taylor DeFrang got the base hit to right, and after the ball got past the right fielder, DeFrang hustled to second base on a gutsy baserunning move. Jack Studer followed with a base hit up the middle, and there was more daring baserunning. DeFrang slid into home safe to tie the game 2-2!

Zach Bubany led off the bottom of the 6th with a base hit down the third base line. After stealing second to move into scoring position, Ethan Fenske drove him on a single to left-center. Fenske was thrown out trying to stretch for extra bases, but two batters later,  Bulldogs got some 2-out hits. Reid Kruegel got a base hit, moved to second on a wild pitch, then Nolan Skifter hit one throw the left side. Then, with Skifter on base, Brenn Olson lifted a popup foul that could not be caught by Dover-Eyota. On that play, Interference was called to end the inning.

The Eagles got runners on first and third in the 7th before Drew Copley struck out the last man he faced. GMLOK won by a final of 4-2.

Drew Copley won KVGO Player of the Game award for the Bulldogs. Copley scored a run on offense, and gave up just 2 (1 earned) while striking out nine on the hill.

For the Dover-Eyota Eagles, Jack Studer took home KVGO Player of the Game honors. Jack's hits in the 3rd inning and 5th inning drove in the two Eagles runs.
