Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The sister of the Stewartville woman who was hit by a car in Rochester Friday morning says donors were found for all her major organs Monday.

According to the CaringBridge website posted by the family of 47-year-old Kari Koens, she was declared brain dead late Friday night. She was struck while walking across 2nd St SW near the Sargent’s store and suffered severe brain injuries.

Here’s part of the post :

“As a final report on the organ donation, all 4 major organs were used to help others today. My sister successfully gave a lung, her liver, and her kidneys. There was a struggle finding a donee for her heart because my sister was so little that most institutions were needing a bigger heart for a bigger person - and because she was 47 it also was not a good fit for a child. God Still made a way - her valves were successfully donated and so since there’s more than one valve, she’ll impact even more people!”

Here is a Facebook post by Kendall as the family walked with Kari on the way to the operation room.

The accident remains under investigation.
