Dover-Eyota Rally Tops Kingsland
The Dover-Eyota Eagles used a 10-0 run late in the second half to push past the Kingsland Knights at Kingsland High School in Spring Valley.
The Knights were able to control the first half as they led 18-14 at the break. The Eagles struggled to knock down shots, while Lauren Buchholtz led the way with nine. The Eagles were great on the glass but struggled to get shots to fall.
That changed in the second half, as the Eagles began to hit shots near the rim. Abbe Lacey was great at the free-throw line, while Malia Nelson cleaned up the glass and attacked the basket well.
Dover-Eyota continued to pressure the Knights throughout the game, and in the second half to finally paid off. Kingsland struggled to find a rhythm in the second half.
The Knights extended their lead to 21-16 early in the half, but the Eagles continued to chip away and eventually took a 24-23 lead. The run continued as Dover-Eyota started to capitalized in transition, pushing their lead to 35-25 with 5:11 left.
The Knights began to cut the lead down behind Buchholtz, but there just wasn't enough time left. The Eagles connected at the line and earned a 46-35 win.
