A sad memory starts today's history.  Dottie West died at a Nashville hospital this date in 1991 from injuries sustained in a car accident five days prior.

On a much happier note, Brianna Rhea Adkins, daughter of Trace and Rhonda Adkins, was born this date in 2001.  Speaking of Trace, in 2008 in St. Paul, Trace performed our national anthem at the Republican National Convention.

In 1982, "Love Will Turn You Around" by Kenny Rogers is #1 on the Billboard chart.  And finally, in 1973, "Behind Closed Doors" is Charlie Rich's first gold single.
