Country music great, Hank Thompson, was born this date in 1925 in Texas. Thompson had a unique style of country swing and honky-tonk.  He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1989.

Number one Billboard singles for this date include "I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried" by Rodney Crowell in 1988, and "Mississippi Girl" by Faith Hill in 2005.  "It Goes Like This" by Thomas Rhett earned a gold single in 2013.
