A little late in reporting but here nonetheless.

One of the greatest singers, in my opinion anyway,  Mr. Ray Charles was born September 23, 1930 in Albany, Georgia.  Ray's signature song, "Hit The Road Jack", is a prime example of his rhythm and blues style.  His duet with Billy Joel "Baby Grand" gives me goosebumps every time I hear it.  Another duet, this with Willie Nelson, "Seven Spanish Angels" is a classic.

Looking at the Billboard singles chart, in 1972 we find the #1 song to be Conway Twitty and his version of "I Can't Stop Loving You", another Ray Charles classic.  And in 1989, it's Rodney Crowell and "Above and Beyond".
