September 18, 1947 New York's Carnegie Hall hosted their first ever country music show. Entertainers included Minnie Pearl, Ernest Tubb and Roy Acuff. Tickets went for a whopping $1.20 to $3.60. Wow.
In 1995, Tae Dye was born in Ada, Oklahoma. She became one-half of the duo Maddie and Tae who had a very popular debut song in 2014 "Girl In A Country Song".
In 1998, Reba McEntire received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, right next to the star of Meryl Streep.
And in 2010, the #1 song on the Billboard country singles chart was Billy Currington and "Pretty Good At Drinkin' Beer".
