Country great Roy Acuff was born September 15, 1903 in Tennessee.  Acuff debuted at the Grand Ole Opry in 1938 and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1962.

"Don't Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog" by Elvis Presley was a double-sided #1 listing on the Billboard charts in 1956.

I've seen "Pure Country" starring George Strait countless times.  While it's not a blockbuster hit, the music is phenomenal.  In 1992, the "Pure Country" soundtrack was released by MCA Records featuring such great songs as "I Cross My Heart" and "Heartland".
