In country music history for today's date, in 1993 the Vietnam Women's Memorial was dedicated in Washington, DC.  Performers included Harry Connick, Jr., and Crystal Gayle.

The Billboard country singles chart in 2006 revealed the #1 spot to be occupied by "Before He Cheats" by Carrie Underwood.

And in 1938, Narvel Felts was born.  Felts had a few hits in the 1970's including "Drift Away", which was originally recorded by Dobie Gray.
