Country Music History June 8

Did you know that "I Will Always Love You" was originally recorded by Dolly Parton?  In 1974, it was #1 on the Billboard country singles chart.  In 1996, that spot was held by George Strait and "Blue Clear Sky".

In 2003, CMT network aired their "100 Greatest Songs of Country Music".  The #1 ranked song was Tammy Wynette and "Stand By Your Man".  Miss Wynette's ex-husband, George Jones was #2 with "He Stopped Loving Her Today".  Wynette was also #35 position with "D-I-V-O-R-C-E". Interesting, don't you think?

And finally, Nickel Creek fiddler, Sara Watkins, was born in 1981 in Vista, California.
