In 1943 the Grand Ole Opry began airing from Nashville's Ryman Auditorium.  Ryman remained the radio show's home base until 1974.

Statler Brothers member, Don Reid, was born June 5, 1945 in Staunton, Virginia.

One of my favorite movies, "Urban Cowboy" premiered in 1980.  The movie has what I consider to be one of the best sound tracks featuring Kenny Rogers, Johnny Lee, Jimmy Buffett, Linda Ronstadt, Mickey Gilley and a host of others.

Dwight Yoakam received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2003.

In 2014 while making dinner at his home in Nashville, singer Chris Young severely cut his left hand.  He had to cancel several CMA Music Festival appearances due to the nasty cut.
