Two terrific songs occupied the #1 spot on the Billboard country singles chart on January 5.  In 1980, we found Kenny Rogers and "Coward Of The County", while in 1985, it was "Does Fort Worth Ever Cross Your Mind" by George Strait.

January 5, 1923, Sun Records founder, Sam Phillips, was born in Alabama.  Phillips produced many great country acts including Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash and Elvis.

And in 2010, "Cowboy Casanonva" by Carrie Underwood achieves gold status.
