Ilene used to take care of Country Music History, but now I am going to take my turn at feeding you some fun information of what has happened on this day in Country Music History. Hopefully you enjoy this just as much as I do.

In the afternoons, usually in the five o'clock hour, you can hear a song related to Country Music History for the specific day. It is always fun to look back and see what has happened today in history and attempt to relive it!

Attempt, that is....

Now, on to the history.

Back in 1983 Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton earned a platinum single for "Islands In The Stream". I remember when my dad asked to put this song on his IPod, and I have never regretted it, until he starts to sing it, that is.

The song was released in 1983, apart of the album Eyes That See in the Dark, which is Rodgers. It finished #56 in 1984 on Billboards Hot 100, and that includes all genres of music.

The song was also nominated for a CMA in the category of Song of the Year and Single of the Year, although it didn't win either award.

The song also hit Number Ones in Pop, Country and Adult Contemporary, it was truly loved by all, thanks to theboot.com for pointing that out.

The song was written the Bees Gees, and actually written for Marvin Gaye, but it was changed from an R&B Style to Kenny Rogers.

It may go down as the best duet of all time.

Be sure to tune in in the 5 o'clock out to hear "Islands in the Stream"
