The Chatfield Gophers Girls Basketball team has played a tough schedule to start their season for years now. It happened last year when the Gophers had Section 1 champion Rochester Lourdes and Plainview-Elgin-Millville on their schedule.

The Gophers have seen that same teams on their schedule this season, and have started 1-3. There is a lot of experience on this roster, and by playing the tough teams early, they have set themselves up to play at a high level every night.

Head Coach Brian Baum loves facing the tough competition, especially early in the season.

The Gophers tough start continues with Wabasha-Kellogg and Kingsland next up. Chatfield is a team that like to run up and down the floor, and put a lot of pressure on the opposing offense. Turnovers have been a problem, but Baum and the team have worked hard to cut those back.

Turnovers are going to happen, but it Chatfield can cut their turnovers in half, they will be in good shape come playoff time.
