The Caledonia Warriors girls basketball squad jumped out to a fast start and the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights could never cut the lead down in a convincing 69-43 win for the Warriors.

The Warriors were great early, as Ashley Schroeder did a great job of attacking the rim and distributing the basketball. The Warriors were able to execute in the half-court very well, and it led them to a 7-0 lead to start.

After a couple of buckets from Kenyon-Wanamingo, the Warriors were able to buckle down and go on a nice run to push their lead to 27-12. The Warriors continued to excel on defense, shutting down the Knights. Amber Conniff and Kaitlin Conniff did a great job of getting extra possessions for the Warriors.

Caledonia took a 34-18 lead into the break, and then came out firing. They increased that lead quickly to 50-25 behind Schroeder and Katie Tornstrom, who hit four 3s.

The Knights struggled to score, but Julianna Boyum did a nice job in the second half putting a couple of possessions together, but it wouldn't be enough. The Warriors, behind a stellar defense, went on to win 69-43.

Schroeder finished with 25, while Tornstrom added 15 for Caledonia, while the Knights were led by Boyum's 13.

With the win, the Warriors advance to take on Zumbrota-Mazeppa Tuesday night at the Mayo Civic Arena.
