Byron, MN (KROC AM News) - A Byron man was hit with a hefty fine this week after pleading guilty to driving by several school buses that had their stop arms and flashing red lights activated.

According to the criminal complaint, there were also students getting off the buses as they were parked at the Byron school district’s administration building around 3:00 PM on Jan. 17th.

Charged with a gross misdemeanor was 65-year-old William Miller, who lives near the building.

Miller was placed on probation for one year and fined $900 - which may be the highest fine in Olmsted County history for a school bus violation.

He was also assessed $85 in fees.

Fines were increased from $300 to $500 last year because of the large number of school bus violations.
