An offensive attack that started on the ground, and then found success through the air led the Lanesboro Burros to a 26-8 win over the LeRoy-Ostrander Cardinals Friday night in Lanesboro on Cool 104!

J.T Rien got the offense going for the Burros, as he collected 195 yards on the ground on 25 carries, ripping off runs of 38, 37 and 21 en route to the Lanesboro victory. It got started right away in the first quarter as Rien found the paydirt on his fifth carry of the game.

LeRoy-Ostranders' offense just couldn't find a rhythm early, which made things really difficult. Lanesboro was able to stretch their defense against the athletic Cardinals, and then eventually used Carson Schwichtenberg on a QB sneak to get into the end zone and make it 12-0.

The Burros kept it on the ground for the majority of the first half, as Schwichtenberg found the end zone on a pass to Andrew Luck to make it 20-0 at the half. Riley Olson was tasked at Quarterbacking the Cardinals in a difficult spot, but also played most of the game at defensive end while playing wide receiver as well. He did a great job of running the ball and played a solid game on both sides of the ball.

The second half saw Trey Hungerholt enter the game at QB for LeRoy-Ostrander and put together a drive of 96 yards before getting stopped at the Burro's one. Then, Lanesboro was able to put together a big 99-yard drive to extend the lead, that was capped off by a Schwichtenberg sneak to round out the scoring.

The Cardinals got a touchdown late on a Levi Royston 80-yard touchdown pass to Tanner Olson.

Lanesboro's ability to be balanced in the second half, and holding two goal-line stands made the big difference in this game. LeRoy-Ostrander had some nice runs and freshman Chase Johnson proved to be electric in the open field, finishing with six catches and 82 yards.

Luck ended up with five catches for 112 and a touchdown, while Schwichtenberg went 11/14 for 150 and one score.

The Burros moves to 2-2 and have a big matchup with Spring Grove next week, while LeRoy-Ostrander falls to 1-3 and has a big matchup with Grand Meadow next week.
