The Spring Grove Lions and Goodhue Wildcats were deadlocked at 17 at the break, but the Lions turned it on the second half, getting the win 60-42, to advance to the Section 1A Subsection Final.

The Lions were trailing in the second half 26-25, but the next sequence of events turned the game around. Alex Folz hit a deep 3 to give the Lions the lead, and then Adin Solum stole the inbound pass and got an easy layup to give the Lions a 30-26 lead.

The five-point run in a span of two seconds changed everything in the game.

The Lions started to dictate tempo, and the Wildcats struggled to get things going offensively. That was the important part for Spring Grove, to keep the pressure on in the second half and not let Goodhue slow things down.

The Wildcats weren't going away easily. They kept the game close at 39-34, and then Folz did his thing. He connected on back to back 3's and Spring Grove's lead blew up to 11, and it was easy going from there.

The Lions were able to wear down the Wildcats late in the half, and Goodhue couldn't buy a bucket, getting the 60-42 win.

Noah Elton's name won't show up much in the box score, but his defense throughout the game was a key factor for Spring Grove, as his energy and ability to tip passes help provided the spark for the Lions.

Folz finished with 20, while Matzke and Sam Sanness finished with 12 points each and Adin Solum added 10. Mitchell Schrimpf had 13 to lead the way for the Wildcats.
