Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Burros Top Hurricanes on KFIL
Thursday night, KFIL brought you high school boys basketball on KFIL Sports. The Lanesboro Burros were looking for their first home win, and the Houston Hurricanes were looking to stop a losing streak
The game started out as we kind of expected, a three-pointer drained by the Burros, then they were answered with 2 buckets from the Hurricanes to give the visitors a 4-3 lead...
Happy Super Bowl Birthdays!
As I am writing this, today is the 87th birthday of Don Shula, coach of the undefeated 1972 Miami Dolphins. Now flash back to the 2007 season and there was a lot going on in the NFL. The New England Patriots were competing for an unbeaten record, and they faced the New York Giants at the end of the regular season...
NFL Fails
Perusing YouTube in this new year, I wanted to look back on the year we had in the NFL. As a Vikings fan, there were highs and lows...especially lows this season. But a number of other teams and players had miscues and what the kids these days call "FAILS...
Ben Went to The Dentist
Wednesday was my 24th birthday, and after celebrating a little bit, I had a dentist appointment. I felt bad for not having any flossing done in the day, but it wasn't as terrible as it could have been. I went in and had my choice of flavors to polish and clean my teeth...
Tuesday Girls Basketball Game
I had the fortune of calling two games on KFIL Sports last night. The doubleheader featured the Houston Hurricanes hosting the Kingsland Knights. The boys game was first and you can read about that here
That left the girls game to play, and many similarities occurred...
Kingsland Vs. Houston Game 1
On Tuesday night, KFIL Radio had the privilege of bringing you TWO high school basketball games, with a doubleheader starting with boys basketball. The Houston Hurricanes were hosting the Kingsland Knights.
We started on time with some aggressive defense and offense pushing the ball for the Kingsland Knights...
Christmas Goodies Ready To Be Eaten
My mother is an excellent cook and baker, so it's a wonder I can fit through the door. And my sisters can make good food as well. Much of the waiting around Christmas time, after eating the regular meal and opening presents, is getting into the desserts...
Lanesboro Is A Festive Winter Wonderland
On Friday night, we were supposed to bring you some high school girls basketball. Unfortunately, I announced schools closing early instead of Mabel-Canton vs. Lanesboro action on the court Friday night. So, I headed to Lanesboro anyway to see what everything was all about...
Ben’s Weekend Snow Adventure
After everything got wild this weekend and got shut down, there was still shoveling to do. I got all the shoveling done out front and got most of it done out back, but I ran into some obstacles at the end.
At least I was all bundled up...
Ben’s Favorite Christmas Specials
Luke made his list of top Christmas movies earlier, so I suppose I should let you know my top Christmas specials.
These Christmas specials air every year on broadcast TV, so you just need an antenna.
#4 How the Grinch Stole Christmas
I’m young enough to remember going to see Jim Carrey as the Grinch in theaters, but I’m more talking about the animated version...
