Ben grew up in Mabel, Minnesota before going on to get a degree from Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato. He spent much of his youth listening to Twins games on KFIL. Ben moved on and wrote articles for his college sports website and also wrote Rochester Honkers game summaries while interning with Townsquare Media in Rochester. Ben likes most all the sports, though he knows the letdown that is associated with the Minnesota teams. One of his first CD's was Alan Jackson, and you can hear a mix of country music, from Merle Haggard to Taylor Swift when Ben is on air.

Lanesboro Memorial “Ice Fishing” Photos
The weekend before we got more snow, the ice had melted so much that the Lanesboro Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament had to change its format. There were beanbags, the seniors served up the food out back, and there were many prizes. Did you make it out there...
Some Snow on Sunday Stroll
So I walked around Mabel on a Sunday afternoon again. This time I had to bundle up a bit more, and I started out late so my step count ended up about 800 steps away from my 10,000 step goal. So, after the wild finish to the Daytona 500, I went out there...

The Legally Blind Mountain Biker!
I went to college with one of the most wild guys you could ever meet. His name is Josh Arndt, from Madelia, Minnesota. I called him up last night and I'm pretty sure he is one of the most wild vicars in California, and we earlier this year he entered to win a contest online...

An Atypical Sunday Stroll in Mabel
Did you get outside this weekend? For being February, it has been quite warm. So, after having a bit of a lazy afternoon, I decided to go on a walk around Mabel.

The Lanesboro Burros boys basketball team earned the season sweep of the Houston Hurricanes by winning 68-42 at Houston. Both games between the teams were broadcast on KFIL. This night was Parents Night, so we were a bit delayed to start the broadcast...
Hughes Keeps Rib
Phil Hughes wants to keep just one souvenir from a tough 2016. Last season, Hughes was only able to pitch 59 innings after being hit in the knee by a comebacker, and later having a season-ending surgery for another issue in July. That surgery was to correct thoracic outlet syndrome (common to MLB pitchers recently) and now he's keeping the rib that was removed...
Bulldogs Pull Away from Saints
Tuesday night, KFIL brought you more high school girls basketball on the airwaves. The 3rd-ranked class AA Plainview-Elgin-Millville Bulldogs came out victorious against the St. Charles Saints by a score of 63-38.
The early going was a very tight contest, with the score 9 minutes in 14-10, then a tie ballgame at 20-20...
