The Mabel-Canton Cougars have been a force to be reckoned with in the Southeast Conference and Section 1A for a very long time, and the Hall of Fame Coach notched another recognition into his belt.

Lonnie Morken was named Coach of the Year for Class A by the Minnesota Volleyball Coaches Association after another great season for the Cougars, who finished with a record of 30-6, but fell in the Section 1A Final to Medford, who finished as runners-up at the State Tournament.

Morken has been coaching at Mabel-Canton since 1994, and was inducted into the MVBCA Hall of Fame in 2011. Morken is also one of 12 coaches who have at least 600 wins on their resume. Morken earned the honor in 2016, you can see the full list of coaches HERE.
