Like many, Alan Jackson saw the devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey and wanted to do something to help. So he’s using his resources — namely AJ’s Good Time Bar in Nashville — to raise funds for the cause.

The artist opened the bar in October 2016 on lower Broadway amid all Music City’s famed honky-tonks, and now he’s using it to give back. From Aug. 29-Sept. 4 (Labor Day), $1 from everything purchased at the bar will be donated to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund, administered through the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Country Singers React to Hurricane Harvey

“I’ve toured a lot over the years in east Texas, played the Houston Rodeo 23 times, and I hate to see what’s happening down there,” Jackson says in a press release. “It’s tough to watch … and I can’t imagine what my fans and all the people of Texas are goin’ through … and I hope this allows folks in Nashville to feel like they can do a little something to help.”

Nashville experienced destructive flooding in 2010, and while the devastation wasn’t nearly as widespread as Harvey’s, it has left Nashvillians with a deep desire to help in any way they can.

“We couldn’t have made it through it without the overwhelming amount of support we received nationwide,” says Matt Harville, general manager at AJ’s Good Time Bar. “Finding a way to give back is an easy choice, and we hope other bars and honky-tonks on Broadway will join us in this effort.”

Many other country artists are putting forth efforts to help, including Florida Georgia Line’s FGL House, which hosted a fundraiser, and Chris Young, who set up a GoFundMe campaign and gave $100,000 to the cause himself. Granger Smith is currently donating 100 percent of the proceeds from his online store to help victims, and Lady Antebellum have donated proceeds from merch as well, specifically from their Aug. 26 show in Dallas. Miranda Lambert’s MuttNation is on the ground in Texas trying to help in any way they can with displaced animals, and George Strait confirmed on Twitter he's committed to helping out via a “major relief effort” developing across the country music community. Blake Shelton also getting involved by co-hosting a telethon in Nashville for disaster relief, and RaeLynn's headed to her hometown to help out.
